We’ve lived here for 8 years, and it’s such a good location! The management and maintenance staff are fantastic and respond to concerns quickly. Great proximity to uptown and easy access to the rest of the city via 77. Andrew has been particularly helpful as we consider transferring to a new unit in the same building.

Misleading Unit Tour & Unprofessional Response from Leasing Agent Steve Shannon – MAA Gateway I believe in sharing honest experiences so future residents know what to expect. Unfortunately, my experience with MAA Gateway — specifically with Leasing Manager Steve Shannon — was disappointing and misleading. A few weeks ago, I contacted MAA Gateway about a studio listed for $960. Steve Shannon gave me a tour of the property and showed me a model/replica unit, explaining that the unit I would receive would be exactly the same. The unit I toured had carpet flooring, large windows, and updated granite countertops. Based on what I saw and what I was told, I submitted an application and was approved. Before signing anything, I scheduled a visit with Steve to see the actual unit, and this is where the issue began. When I arrived and entered the apartment, it was clearly not the same condition or features as the unit I had been shown. The apartment had: Scratched and worn wooden floors instead of carpet Smaller windows No granite countertops Yellow stains on the cabinets Drawers that stuck and did not open properly Dirt and what appeared to be mildew under the stove The condition was significantly worse than the unit I had toured and did not match what had been represented to me. Had I known the true condition of the unit, I would not have applied. I contacted Steve to explain my concerns and asked about a refund due to the misleading experience. Instead of acknowledging the situation, he insisted he had only promised the same layout, not the same finishes or condition. The conversation became defensive and unprofessional. When I asked to speak with another manager, Steve stated he was the only manager on site and initially refused to provide the regional manager’s contact information. After multiple requests, he finally provided it. The call ended with him hanging up on me. This level of customer service was unacceptable and unprofessional for a leasing office. To contrast, I ultimately chose MAA Reserve in South End, where the experience was completely different — professional, transparent, and respectful throughout the process. I do want to acknowledge that Property Manager Carlos Fuentes at MAA later contacted me after learning about the situation and worked to resolve the issue. My application fee was refunded, and I appreciate the effort to make things right. I am now living at MAA Reserve and have had a positive experience so far. I am sharing this review so future applicants understand the importance of viewing the actual unit before applying and so others are aware of my experience at MAA Gateway and possibly encouraging Steve. Choose carefully.

I just recently moved in last and have honestly been extremely impressed and blown away. The entire staff has been super professional and friendly! I had some outlets that weren’t working but Josh from maintenance came in and fixed everything quickly and effectively! He was very professional and friendly and made sure the job got done AND made sure all of the other outlets worked! Fantastic place to live!

Great pool. Apartment was perfect for me. Had a one bedroom and it was crazy big for me. Just didn’t wanna resign, but great memories were for sure made.
