Sunny Rodriguez a month agoCord was one of the bright spots of my new build experience. While there have been things to address after move-in, some more than expected for a brand-new home, I do want to recognize that Cord has consistently shown up, responds quickly, and works hard to help address concerns as they come up. Cord is professional, communicative, and has made me feel heard throughout the entire process, which honestly made a huge difference during the entire home buying process. Even after closing, he has continued to be responsive and helpful instead of disappearing once the sale was done. I know I can count on Cord to respond in a timely manner, take my comments seriously, and work to get them done.
Amman Osman a month agoIt has been an absolute pleasure working with Cord through the construction of our first home. Cord was always available to give us a response on any questions or concerns we had throughout the process and if he wasn’t readily available, he was sure to send us a text to let us know of his availabilities even after our move-in. Cord has continued to deliver professionalism and proved that we could count on him for anything else that came up. I am happy that we got to work with a builder like Cord. He never once put off any of our concerns even if they were the most minute ones. Besides working with him, I can confidently say the quality of his work is outstanding coming from a family who is in residential development across Dallas. I have a good idea of what quality looks like, and Cord did not fail to surpass our expectations by far. Compared to many of the cookie cutter new builds that exist nowadays Cord showed me that quality still exists. We are absolutely thrilled to have moved in and have no complaints about the work that was done. Cord still checks up on us to make sure that any concerns have been addressed and whether or not there are any new concerns as can be expected with new builds. I am very impressed with his work, his diligence and his willingness to be there for his clients even after the deal has been done. I cannot recommend Cord enough. His professionalism, quality of work and friendly personality have all made it a very great experience for my wife and I.
Leea Yater 2 months agoI couldn’t be happier with my experience with West River Homes. I absolutely love my new home and feel so grateful to have purchased my very first home with them. The design and layout are exactly what I was looking for—it truly feels like the perfect fit for me. A huge part of what made this experience so special was working with Cord, the construction superintendent. He was hands down the best to work with. As a first-time homeowner, I had a lot of questions, and Cord always took the time to thoroughly explain every detail. That level of care made me feel confident and comfortable throughout the entire process. During our walkthroughs, I never felt like there was anything I couldn’t ask—there were no “dumb” questions with him. It was clear that he genuinely wanted me to be happy in my home, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right by my move-in date. Even after moving in, Cord has continued to be incredibly responsive, quickly answering any questions and addressing anything that has come up. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Haley Marshall 9 months agoWe bought a WRH home in Fort Worth in August. Was the house perfect when we closed? No, but Cord has been an amazing partner in helping to complete our task list before and after closing. He is always responsive and upfront about the different tasks and works diligently to get different contractors and services scheduled in a timely manor. We absolutely love the design and layout of our home, and WRH has been an amazing partner throughout the process. This is my second new construction home, and this builder cares about the details and service provided so much more than national builders.
Marie Siebers 4 months agoWe moved into our home in 2022 while expecting a new baby. We chose this builder specifically because we wanted a “project-free” home and peace of mind during a major life transition. We were told West River Homes was a small “mom and pop” operation that prides themselves on small, quality builds. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Since move-in, we have dealt with repeated construction defects and premature failures: • The master shower floor had to be replaced because it was not installed correctly. • The master tub drain was leaking, and the tub itself was not properly adhered to the floor. It shifted when I stepped out of it shortly postpartum, which was unsafe and alarming. Although it was eventually corrected, it required significant pushback. • Our wet room was constructed with drywall in areas that should have had proper moisture-resistant backing. • We are now facing the need to rip out and replace an entire tile surround in the secondary bathroom due to improper installation and ongoing moisture concerns. • The secondary bathtub has developed cracks and chips in the enamel. • Several sections of tile flooring were hollow underneath. We were told it would be addressed, and then communication stopped. • About a year after move-in, we experienced moisture intrusion in the garage due to improperly installed siding. We were initially told it was a maintenance issue on our end before it was acknowledged as an installation problem. The only corrective action taken was caulking the area rather than addressing the underlying installation concern. • Our sprinkler system required repairs shortly after move-in. • There was plastic stuffed inside the dryer vent, which we did not discover until we experienced mold and water damage because clothes would not dry properly. • The stove installed in our home has multiple recalls. • The microwave installed by the builder failed after approximately one year. • We have also already had to replace the dishwasher. • In the attic, we discovered nails that missed the rafters entirely, raising concerns about overall workmanship. • Our septic system was not operational when we moved in. Much of the finish work throughout the home has been substandard. In addition to the construction issues, there was significant communication breakdown throughout the process. There was frequent staff turnover, and we were repeatedly required to restate the same concerns to new representatives. Issues were rarely handled in a timely manner, and follow-through was inconsistent. In conversations with multiple neighbors in our community, we have learned that many have experienced similarly long lists of construction defects and difficulty getting them resolved. While our foundation appears stable, the volume of defects, premature appliance failures, and the difficulty in getting issues properly addressed have created ongoing concerns about overall build quality. We expected a new home to provide peace of mind. Instead, we have spent years troubleshooting preventable construction problems and managing issues that should not occur in a new build. Buyers considering this builder should conduct extremely thorough inspections and be prepared to advocate persistently for repairs. We would not choose this builder again.
